Dr. Kumar

 As a clinical psychologist, I contemplate the potential of my medical background to contribute significantly towards addressing the escalating challenges of mental illness within our society. This pervasive issue is increasingly affecting various facets of our community. I invite you to consider my active engagement in numerous communities across Northern California and the Central Valley. Rather than resting on past achievements, I am driven by my ongoing endeavors in the present, as I strive towards a better tomorrow. 

 Dr. Harmesh Kumar, renowned bay area clinical psychologist with a world-level reputation, has  enthusiastically added his name to the list of candidates running for California U.S. Senator  presently held by retiring Senator Diane Feinstein. With three members of congress having  previously declared their candidacy to the position, Dr. Kumar-a Democrat-- is the first non-member of congress to declare his candidacy. He has been very involved in finding positive solutions in our communities. He was a    

-Member on Measure Q Finance Oversight Committee, City of Concord, CA (2010-2014)

-Commissioner for the City of Concord on the Human Relations Commission and as a Chair of the Commission from 2006-2010 

-Member of the Board of Directors of Monument Community Partnership (MCP) from 2003-2005. 

-Ran for Concord city council county supervisor district 4 and for state assembly district {AD14}. 

-Ran for governor of California. In announcing his candidacy, Dr. Kumar states "I love our country and I want to make a positive  difference in how it is run. It is a great country, but it can be greater!"

I was born into a humble family in India, where the spirit of democracy was deeply ingrained. Growing up, I witnessed the daily struggles and aspirations of ordinary people, and their stories became the foundation of my unwavering belief in the power of collective action. This upbringing instilled in me a profound empathy for the marginalized and a relentless drive to fight for justice and equality.

        Education became my gateway to empowerment, as I embarked on a transformative journey through the corridors of knowledge. As a first-generation college graduate, I understood the transformative power of education in breaking the chains of inequality. It became clear to me that investing in quality education is not only an ethical imperative but also a vital driver of societal progress.
